Celebrating Dr. Seuss

On Monday we had friends over for a few hours in the afternoon to celebrate Dr. Seuss Day with us.  Dakota, Emily, Logan, Aiden and Falyn watched the Cat in the Hat cartoon together and then headed in to our brightly decorated table to find plates with candy chip cupcakes on them, along with bubbles and a new pencil.  In bowls around the table were bowls of colored icing and lots of sprinkles and sugars.  They got to decorate and eat a cupcake and got very silly with them and then each of them posed wearing a Cat in the Hat striped hat and holding the cat, himself.  We made crazy characters out of playdoh, filled out a worksheet with fill in the blank spaces to complete names of Dr. Seuss and Dakota and Emily were our guest readers, each choosing a book and reading to the group.  They did a directed learning activity to draw the Cat in the Hat and then finished off the day playing on the trampoline.  It was busy, but very fun!  We are really enjoying our Mondays learning with another family.
