St. Patricks Day in Ocean City

Ocean City must be THE place to celebrate this Irish holiday!  There were people of all ages, including the "red hat ladies" all in green.  Some had on kilt;, some had on striped tights and tutus; some had on turban hats or silly antennae.  There were even the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle girls!  People were up early and feeling fine.  We rolled out a bit later than usual and knew right away that the traffic was going to be an issue.    Our first breakfast stop was packed so we ended up at the Bayside Skillet.  While this was a FABULOUS breakfast for my husband and I, the boys were not much on the crepes and omelets on the menu.  We finished, drove a little, then parked and walked about 15 blocks to find a good place to view the parade.

The parade was a blast!  Floats of all kinds, music, dogs, cars.  Everyone was having fun!  There were all sorts of things being thrown to the crowd and Dakota got a hat, beads, frisbees and a ton of candy and tchotchkes.  It was very green and very festive and the crowd was friendly and happy.  We all really enjoyed it.

After the parade we made our way to the boardwalk where big Brian went to the Purple Moose to watch the basketball game and the boys and I bought a sinful amount of Thrasher's french fries and spent way too much money playing arcade games.  Afterward we headed back to the hotel where there was more swimming and ping pong for Dakota, followed by a delicious late dinner at JR's Ribs.  The boys decided to go ice skating again and by 10pm we were all exhausted and ready to call it a night.

We had a wonderful weekend and I am looking forward to next year.  I hope we can take Nat with us so she can enjoy the parade too.
